My name is Giovanni Collazo. I’m a software developer, user experience designer, and web application security enthusiast from San Juan, Puerto Rico, where I live with my wife, three kids, and our dog Paco.

I started writing software in 1998 when I was 14 years old. My formal education is in design, visual arts, and filmmaking.

I have also worked professionally as a photographer, video editor, motion graphics designer, and user experience designer, but I always return to software development and entrepreneurship.

In 2008, I started working on my first startup, a digital signage management platform. It wasn’t a success, but I learned a lot about what not to do.

In 2011, I co-founded Blimp, a startup that built a project management suite for advertising agencies and other creative companies. After a few years, we pivoted to a consulting firm for the very same customers of the app. To this day, Blimp keeps designing and building world-class apps for our super smart, cool, and beautiful clients.

In 2015, I started working on Gasolina Móvil, a mobile app that allows consumers to pay at the pump using their phones. This app later became the first product of Alias Payments, a company I also co-founded.

Currently, I’m in charge of products at Alias, where I lead one of the most talented groups of people in the industry.

On this site, I try to share things that I want to remember and reference later. Posts are in English and Spanish. Here are a few of the most popular ones:
